Bring Home the Soul of Kerala — Art, Craft & Gifting Rooted in Tradition
There's a kind of beauty that doesn't shout — it whispers. It lives in the curve of a brass lamp, the geometry of a woven mat, the earthy warmth of a hand-painted mural. Kerala, India's southernmost coastal state, has been quietly perfecting this beauty for over a thousand years. At the crossroads of ancient trade routes, royal patronage, and deeply spiritual traditions, Kerala gave birth to a rich visual language — one that today translates effortlessly into homes, gifting, and everyday living.
The Art of Kerala, Reimagined for Modern Homes
Kerala Mural Art — Walls That Tell Stories
Kerala's temple murals are among the finest examples of classical Indian painting. With bold outlines, earthy mineral pigments, and figures drawn from the Ramayana and Mahabharata, these murals adorned the walls of Padmanabhapuram Palace and the Mattancherry Dutch Palace for centuries.
Today, master artisans carry this tradition forward — on canvas, on wood panels, and on hand-crafted home décor pieces. Our Kerala Mural Art Panels bring the grandeur of temple art into your living room without losing an ounce of authenticity. Each piece is hand-painted using natural colours including ochre, indigo, and lamp black, and takes anywhere from three days to three weeks to complete.
Perfect for: Feature walls, pooja rooms, entryways, and as statement gifting pieces for housewarmings and weddings.
Aranmula Kannadi — A Mirror Unlike Any Other
If there is one object that embodies Kerala's metallurgical genius, it is the Aranmula Kannadi — the metal mirror of Aranmula. Unlike conventional mirrors made of glass, this is crafted from a secret alloy of copper and tin, polished by hand over days until it reflects with extraordinary clarity. The exact composition of the alloy has been guarded by a single community of artisans in Aranmula village for generations and is a Geographical Indication (GI) product of India.
Owning an Aranmula mirror is considered auspicious — it is believed to bring prosperity and ward off negativity. In Kerala homes, it is gifted at weddings, naming ceremonies, and during Vishu (the Malayalam New Year) as a symbol of blessings and new beginnings.
Our collection ranges from palm-sized mirrors framed in traditional brass to elegant wall-mounted pieces with hand-engraved borders — each one a genuine heirloom.
Perfect for: Wedding gifts, anniversary presents, festive gifting, and collector's décor.
Brass & Bell Metal Craft — The Sound of Prosperity
Walk into any traditional Kerala home during a festival and you'll hear the soft chime of a Nilavilakku — the traditional brass lamp — being lit at dusk. Lighting the lamp is a daily ritual of gratitude and auspiciousness. Our range of handcrafted brass lamps, from the tall and ceremonial to the compact and minimalist, are made by artisans in Thrissur and Nadavaramba, using techniques passed down across generations.
Beyond lamps, our bell metal collection includes serving bowls, urns, oil diyas, and decorative figurines inspired by Kathakali dancers and the revered Guruvayurappan deity. Bell metal — an alloy of copper and tin — produces a resonant ring when struck, which is why it's been used for temple bells and ritual vessels for centuries.
Perfect for: Pooja room décor, gifting during religious occasions, and adding warmth to contemporary living spaces.
Gifting, the Kerala Way
In Kerala culture, a gift is never just an object — it carries intention, memory, and an invisible thread between giver and receiver. Whether it's a bride stepping into her new home, a child beginning school, or elders being honoured at a family gathering, the gift chosen is always thoughtful, always lasting.
