Collection: Ugadi Offers
Ugadi is a significant festival celebrated primarily in the southern states of India, such as Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and parts of Maharashtra, marking the New Year according to the Hindu lunisolar calendar. The word "Ugadi" is derived from Sanskrit, where "Yuga" means "age" or "era," and "Adi" means "beginning," symbolizing the start of a new era.
When is Ugadi Celebrated?
Ugadi typically falls in March or April, based on the Chaitra month of the Hindu calendar, which marks the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new agricultural cycle.
In Maharashtra, the festival is called Gudi Padwa and involves hoisting a decorative flag (Gudi) outside homes.
In Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, Ugadi is celebrated with similar rituals but includes regional twists in the preparation of festive dishes and cultural performances.
