The Seven Deities, Who They Are
Green Tara (Shyama Tara): The most beloved and most widely worshipped of all Tibetan Buddhist deities. Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara): The bodhisattva of compassion, the deity who refused to enter final nirvana until every sentient being had been liberated from suffering. In Tibetan tradition, he is the patron deity of Tibet itself, the deity whose mantra, Om Mani Padme Hum, is the most widely recited sacred formula in the Tibetan Buddhist world.
